RiverPlex Xtreme 2018: Session 3 Results

RiverPlex Xtreme (also known as RPX) is our eight week long weight loss program. Throughout RPX participants will be provided with feedback on their food logs from OSF certified dietitians, have weekly lessons, quizzes, and challenges in an online classroom, and have two training sessions a week with the option of adding more if desired. This year, for the first time ever, there were three separate rounds of RPX. Some participants completed all three sessions, while others only did one. But I can tell you this, all of our participants come out not only with physical results but they have gained knowledge about how to live a healthier lifestyle. One of the main things I love about running this program here is that participants are always able to contact trainers and dietitians on any questions they may have.

This last session of RPX from October 4th, 2018 – December 5th, 2018 was the first time running the program in the Fall. One of the participants let us know that this was so helpful in helping her stay on track during Thanksgiving and leading up to other Holidays.

To start off the program, all participants complete an initial styku scan. We have mentioned this in other blogs- but if you are unfamiliar with a styku scan, it is a machine that takes a quick 30 second 3D scan of you and gives you information based off of your body composition. Information like body weight, fat mass, non-fat mass, estimated calorie goals, 17 different body measurements, and body fat percentages. The following are some styku scans of some of our previous participants that had success in this last round of RPX in just 8 weeks!


Greg was looking to get back in to a routine after falling off the training rails. Greg completed all 16 training sessions and even added on five semi private training sessions (true strength training). Greg ended up being the overall winner of RPX! He lost 22 inches, 6 percent body fat, and 26 pounds in just 59 days!! Greg will be the first to tell you that it wasn’t easy- but that he worked hard for these results. Not only did Greg complete RPX, but he is now enrolled in RiverPlex training options to continue to reach his goals.



Carilla (CC) started this program with a friend to gain control of her health being 6 months post-partum. CC not only crushed her training sessions, but she completed the online challenges, quizzes, and logged her food throughout the entire 8 weeks. Imagine doing that with a 6 month old and two other kiddos on top of that!? Watching CC transform during training sessions was admirable. She came in to training ready to learn new things and she put forth a lot of effort. CC won team player as her award for always encouraging and motivating others throughout the entire program. CC is now enrolled in RiverPlex training options as well and is going to continue to accomplish big things in training rolling into 2019.



The next few participants will remain anonymous to honor their request, but they still wanted to share their success for anyone out there who thinks they aren’t capable of turning their health around!

Participant A:

This woman came into RPX not really knowing what she was going to get. I remember meeting her for the first time in the hallway and she wasn’t sure that someone her age would be able to do this. I remember her saying, “I am not in this for the competition, I am doing this for me and me only.” Well, that’s exactly what she did! And she ended up taking second place overall winner! Not only did she lose 15 inches and 4.5 percent body fat, this woman jumped for the first time in 8 years since her knee replacement surgery! Lesson learned from this participant as a coach: you have to believe in your clients no matter how small of a goal they set for themselves. If one of our coaches hadn’t told her that she should be able to jump, she still never would have tried. And the best part? She hit a 6 inch box jump the very last day of training. Now, she is continuing training with the RiverPlex training options and we know not to get in her way!


Participant B:

Participant B hadn’t exercised in years. It wasn’t until RPX that she learned how to start training! I remember she came to her first training sessions afraid of what others would think and if she could keep up. Well let me be the first to tell ya, she did keep up and she tried everything! She would be the first to admit that she didn’t like how she felt during some of the training sessions… but her motivation stemmed from her kids and she just kept going. She ended up 8 inches and 2 percent body fat… in just 53 days!


Participant C:

Saving the best story for last! This participant completed all three sessions of RPX in 2018. Starting in January all the way until December. Not only did she change her life, but her husbands and her kids lives as well. Sometimes it can be challenging to get your families on board with some lifestyle changes, and if you asked her in January if she thought her husband and kids would be on board with her new habits, she probably would have laughed in your face! Today, this participant is still moving in the direction she wants to be with her progress. Was it easy? No. Was it consistent? Yes. She worked her tail off during the summer to get her nutrition under control when she couldn’t train, and she would be the first to tell you that it’s hard work to make these changes. Since January, she has lost 32 inches, and 8.7 percent body fat!!!



We decided to share these success with you in hopes that you realize you are not alone in wanting to work towards a healthier lifestyle. Nothing worth having is going to come easy, and every one of these participants, and all the other participants we’ve had this year will tell you themselves that you have to put the work in to get what you want.
