Something Unique–I’m kind of an adrenaline junkie. I’ve been surfing and rappelling in Australia, scuba diving in the Caribbean and skydiving.
What made you start teaching group fitness?–I graduated in 2007 from ISU with a B.S. in Exercise Science. I thought I wanted to do something in the health field and decided to do my senior internship with the RiverPlex. I have never left. After working as a personal trainer for a year, I decided to dive into group fitness head first by attending Body Step training in 2008. Although I’m naturally an introvert, I found the stage and group exercise to be my safe space. I have found out more about myself every time I put on the mic.
What do you love most about leading group exercise?–There’s something really special about sharing a workout with a group! People blossom and open up when they are pushed to their limits. As an instructor, you can see it happen and it’s a beautiful thing to witness. I love seeing a mental shift in others when they realize that they are stronger than they thought they were.
