Consider this. Has anyone ever given you more than you asked for? Well, it’s happening! Beginning January 1, 2022, we are excited to be able to expand the support you receive as a member of the RiverPlex family. We’re thrilled to share a new partnership that will give you more…. More friends to cheer you on. More options for exercise. More flexibility to support your personal fitness goals.

On New Year’s Day, the Peoria Park District will join forces with the Greater Peoria YMCA to offer dual memberships, which means simply that members from each facility will be able to access fitness programming and equipment, including pools(!), at BOTH facilities at no additional costs!   Staff and boards at both facilities, believe this is a great way to show our support for health and vibrancy in our community and serve our members better in the process. With shared goals around support of our Peoria area region, this collaboration is a great way to get people up and active all year round!

Our RiverPlex team is also pleased to share that one thing isn’t changing…. The groundbreaking relationship that built the RiverPlex between the District and OSF is alive and well. OSF patients will still use the region’s leading fitness facility for rehab and our teams will continue to work to support each other and you.

Please see below for some Q &A that will hopefully answer many of the questions that you have. If you’d like to know more, there’s an answer for that too!

As we progress through this transition, we’ll be sharing regular updates about special programming to get you ready to access MORE in the new year and we can’t wait to celebrate this opportunity with you.

In the meantime, keep exercising and know that we’re grateful for you and your membership in the RiverPlex family.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS OR QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE:

Who is affected by this change?

Current members, regardless of their membership category, at each facility will be able to access more member benefits beginning on January 1.

You’ll be getting new member cards that will help you access both locations with ease and we’ll be doing our very best to share information with you as quickly as we have it to make this a positive experience for everyone!

Community members who want to join this collaborative will be able to purchase memberships at the new rates now. They will be able to use these memberships at the location purchased through the end of December and will then enjoy the same reciprocal access that current members will on January 1.

What will it cost?

That’s one of the best parts!  As members enjoy MORE hours to exercise, MORE classes to motivate, and MORE amenities to enjoy, they will pay the same or sometimes less than they do now!

When will the changes take place?

All increased member benefits will begin on January 1, 2022, but communications will begin with new and current members in December so that you’re ready to make the most of your new experience!

Why is this change happening?

The Peoria Park District, OSF, and the Greater Peoria YMCA have been in talks for more than a year with the goal of finding a unique public-private collaborative that is grounded in a shared commitment to ensuring equitable access to high quality fitness and recreation available to all parts of our Peoria community.

It is their shared belief that this is a key first step… getting the joint memberships of the two fitness facilities to work together, along with our expert staff, to build a community that is unparalleled in our region.

The partners believe that this expanded collaboration will provide a stronger member experience and shared resource opportunities.

How can I access class and hour information?

As you always have, and for now, please rely on your current facility’s website for class and hours of operation information. Staff at both locations will work on a shared class schedule and other information that will be linked to both facilities’ websites. As we find efficiencies, we’ll share those via regular email communications with all members.

Who can answer my questions if I have them?

Front desk staff at both facilities will be informed and ready to answer your questions! If you have broader questions about the collaborative public-private partnership, please email [email protected] or use the contact us page on either facility’s webpage.
